  4. This is still an early version of my port of InfoTaskforces infocom
  5. adventure interperator.
  6.  
  7. It has two main features to recommend it when compared to Frank
  8. Lancasters excellent 'zip' infocom interperator:
  9.  1) It runs in a desktop window
  10.  2) It can run version 5 adventures (like Beyond Zork, Border Zone
  11.     and Sherlock)
  12.  
  13. It also has one disadvantage: It's a lot slower ('zip' is written
  14. entirly in assembly language, whereas !Infocom is written
  15. entirely in C.) Some actions can take as long as three seconds
  16. to get a response so dont be concerned.

  18. To run an adventure all you have to do is double click on an infocom
  19. adventure (filetyped 061 to 065)... Double clicking on the !Infocom
  20. directory will do nothing for now.

  22. To save, type "SAVE" while playing the game, and a Save As window will
  23. open for you. To restore just drag a previously saved game into the
  24. game window.

  26. Inside the !Infocom directory are three obey files "Big", "Small" and
  27. "80x24" which simply swap the templates around. You can modify the templates
  28. yourself to make a textscreen that is the right size for your screen, Icon
  29. #1 is the only one that counts--resize that to whatever and the program will
  30. automatically adjust its textarea to suit.

  32. Note Well: You will have to get your own infocom adventures (I can
  33. recommend the excellent Lost Treasures of Infocom I & II packages for
  34. value for money) and move them onto the Arc...
